Some Types Of Dermatitis

This site describes a number of types of dermatitis, including:

Atopic Dermatitis - part of a family of diseases that includes hay fever and asthma; this is a disease that causes a person’s skin to become very itchy and also inflamed, and you will also see reddening of the skin accompanied by swelling and also weeping as well as crusting, and some cracking as also scaling. People suffering from this condition must avoid stressful situations and also avoid hot environmental conditions, they will need to forego using some skin care products including soaps and also shampoos that may irritate the skin.

Atrophic Dermatitis - a common form of eczema. It is rather severe and is usually chronic. Our skin’s ability to maintain moisture is disrupted by this condition which results in very dry, inflamed skin. Atrophic dermatitis usually occurs in skin folds and creases, like the insides of elbows, the backs of knees and hands and many different parts of the face and head. Due to constant scratching and contact with clothes, the sores often ooze or may crust and become painful skin lesions.

Cercarial dermatitis - a patchy red pinpoint skin rash that is associated with itching on the parts of the body that have been exposed in water. Usually, this condition is not severe. The itchiness and the rash stays for just a short time then disappear without treatment. After exposure, itching occurs within 48 hours and may last up to 7 days. It is a rare case of dermatitis that can be severe if a large portion of the body is affected.

Stasis dermatitis - when someone has this condition, his or her skin may turn brown and it will generally weaken while also ulcerating in some parts, and when cracks as well as skin that is in poor condition allow bacterial infections to occur it will result in cellulitis infections spreading in the leg, and if such condition worsens, then it is possible for venous ulcers to form.

Statis dermatitis - this condition greatly affects the legs, which may appear to have red and often itchy rash on the lower part of your body. Usually, it often occurs after a long-term swelling of the legs which could be caused by poor blood circulation; because of the poor circulation of blood flow from the lower legs back to the heart, it causes the swelling of the lower legs. If that occurs, it could trigger the signs and symptoms of statis dermatitis which are red bumps that are disturbingly itchy. But before that could happen, the skin on the lower leg would first be discolored and then the rashes are likely to develop mostly on the shins.

There are many other types of dermatitis; please follow the links on this page and those at the top of the Links Page for more information.
